A new documentary by Kathleen Brennan and Jina Brenneman, Agnes Martin Before the Grid, captures little known stories of the distinguished American artist’s life prior to 1967, when she left New York City. Featuring rare interviews with friends, lovers, and classmates, this poignant film offers insight into Martin’s identity, the relationships that shaped her life, and the development of her creative process.
