BrendanJohnston(b.1984)is a compelling young painter and sculptor dedicated to representational art. BorninNew York City, Brendan developed an early interest in fine art and history. After graduating from McGill University with a Major in Art History and Humanities, Brendan moved back to New York to pursue a career as an artist. In 2008, he enrolled in the Grand Central Academy, where he diligently studied academic drawing, painting and sculpture. Currently living and working in Southampton, New York, Brendan is working in several different genres of paintings, which have a central focus on portraiture. He is sculpting dynamic portraits in terra-cotta and turning them into various stone sculptures. His stone carving ‘Tiburtinus II’ was awarded first prize in the Society of Portrait Sculptors 2022 international exhibition and competition in London. Brendan’s work is represented by galleries in California, New York, and Massachusetts. His work was recently included in the BP Portrait award exhibition in the National Gallery of art in London. This show will be traveling to Edinburgh and Belfast over the course of the next year.
