Painting and drawing have always been a part of my life. Like many painters, I would draw on everything I could get my hands on while growing up (including my textbooks.) When I was about eleven years old, my mom started taking me to the local art group in our small town where two different artists would encourage and enlighten and give demonstrations on painting. Mom instilled in me a great appreciation for art and for nature. My dad owned the local lumberyard and he started stocking art materials so that our art group would have immediate access to what we needed instead of having to drive 25 or 30 miles to the big city of San Antonio, TX. Having no idea that people could actually make a living at painting, my college years were spent pursuing a business degree, while painting on the side. When my children were young, I worked part-time in a business career, and taught children’s art classes in my spare time. I am now finding more time to study and develop as an artist. Every hour that I can spend attempting to capture some of the magic around me with paint and canvas is wonderful gift
